Untamed Lilith

According to ancient texts, the first woman in Paradise was not Eve, but Lilith. Her name appears only briefly in the Bible, hinted at in passing, yet her story survived in Jewish midrashim, apocrypha, and Kabbalistic writings. Although later theologians removed her from the official canon, she remained alive as a symbol of the woman who refused to submit and was exiled for her independence.

According to legend, Lilith was created in the same way as Adam – from clay, from the same earth, from the same essence. She was not derived from a man but created as an equal. In the biblical framework, man was supposed to rule over woman, but Lilith refused this. When she made love with Adam, she demanded equality. She wanted to be on top, to be seen, to be an equal partner, not property. Adam protested: “I was created first, and you are the one who should obey.” Lilith stood her ground. She pronounced God’s a name so sacred, according to ancient texts, that speaking it gives the power to leave the material world – and left Paradise. This was her act of freedom. Lilith chose exile over obedience, solitude over subjugation. She was the first woman to say no.

Adam, lost without his companion, turned to God and asked for her return. God sent three angels – Senoi, Sansenoi, and Semangelof – to find her at the Red Sea, where she lived surrounded by demons and new beings. Lilith refused to return. When the angels threatened that one hundred of her children would die for every day of her disobedience, she replied: “So be it. But I will not return.”

This moment gave birth to the archetype of the “fallen woman” because she rejected hierarchy. In patriarchal interpretation, female freedom became sin, rebellion became impurity, and independence was transformed into demonization. Lilith was labeled a seductress, a witch, and a creature of the night. Her name became a symbol of female power that cannot be controlled.

To balance her departure, God created Eve from Adam’s rib. She was no longer his equal but a derivative. Eve was meant to be obedient, willing, and quiet. This story created the figure of the woman “from man,” whose role was to complement rather than challenge. Lilith was forgotten, expelled from Paradise and human consciousness. Yet she did not disappear. Ancient texts say she settled in the desert, becoming the “queen of demons,” a symbol of untamed female energy, eroticism, and magic. Spiritually, Lilith did not fall; she freed herself. She stepped out of the system that bound her and became a shadow standing at the threshold of every female soul, a reminder that obedience is not the same as love, and that freedom has its price.

From a psychological perspective, Lilith’s exile represents the moment when female consciousness separated from its wild, instinctive part. Within it remained wisdom, intuition, embodiment, sexuality, and untamed strength – all the qualities later suppressed by patriarchal cultures. Eve represents the cultivated part of the woman, the part that adapts, while Lilith embodies the archetype of remaining true to oneself, even at the cost of exile.

The biblical story illustrates the split within the female soul. Lilith and Eve are two aspects of a whole: the first embodies instinctive, independent power, the second represents adaptation to a structured world. Civilization chose to honor Eve and condemn Lilith, but without Lilith, women lose their roots – their connection to nature, body, and inner truth.

Spiritually, Lilith represents the return to original female sacredness. When God “punished” her with the loss of her children and solitude, a paradox emerged: the punishment that was meant to break her strength transformed her instead. Lilith became consciousness that cannot be destroyed. A shadow that brings light. In every woman who feels the need to live authentically, in every woman who rejects false relationships, in every woman who chooses authenticity over acceptance, Lilith is reborn.

Religion called her a demon, yet archetypally, a demon represents a suppressed part of the soul. Lilith is the female part that culture tried to silence, and the more it suppressed her, the stronger she returned – in myths, fairy tales, dreams, and every time a woman stood up and claimed her power. Her exile from Paradise is the first metaphor for the separation of the female energy from itself, a moment when feminine energy was removed from balance. Yet it also contains the seed of return, as every exile carries the desire for reintegration. This is Lilith’s message today: a return to the original, instinctive, free part of the female soul, which once dared to leave Paradise to remain true to herself.

Later, Kabbalah divided her into multiple aspects: the dark consort of Samael, a shadow demon, and a spiritual archetype of female power beyond good and evil. Lilith represents “Sitra Achra,” the opposite side of God – a principle that allows humans to understand their own polarity.

In astrology, Lilith appears as the Black Moon, a point that does not represent a planet but an empty focus of the lunar orbit. This point reflects the deepest instinctive layers of the soul, where the soul refuses to submit. Lilith shows where internal conflict between freedom and rejection arises, where a person refuses to bend, even if it means standing alone. It represents the raw truth beneath the layers of social masks. Psychologically, particularly in Jungian terms, Lilith embodies the Shadow of the feminine principle. Jung described her as the suppressed aspect of the female psyche, denied expression in patriarchal cultures. Where obedience, motherhood, and purity were elevated, Lilith became unconscious rage, sexuality without love, envy, or manipulation – masks worn when she was not accepted.

Modern Jungian psychology often describes the “Lilith moment” in a woman’s self-development or spiritual awakening as an encounter with her deepest truth: wildness, anger, sexuality, desire for freedom, and grief from rejection. Lilith has become a mirror for what patriarchy has long tried to diminish out of fear – the ability to create, heal, connect, reflect, or even destroy.

Today, Lilith emerges in new forms: in women who refuse to be quiet, sweet, or compliant. Patriarchy arose from the need to control what is untamed – the very life force that women embody. Historically, women were reduced to roles of wife, mother, and servant, separated from education, voice, body, and sexuality. Patriarchy is not only about men; it is an energetic system rooted in women themselves. Whenever women shrink to fit expectations, suppress creativity, or deny intuition, they sustain this system.

Even in the 21st century, its traces are visible. The so-called “female rage” represents the voice of all suppressed female generations. On Hawkins’ scale of consciousness, Anger is rated 150 – below Love (500) – yet it brings a crucial turning point. At this level, a person recognizes where personal boundaries have been violated, which is impossible without awareness of self-worth. Anger is also the first level where the possibility of change is perceived, as the individual understands they deserve more. This awareness does not appear in Sadness (75) or Guilt (30), where consciousness remains paralyzed by grief and powerlessness, with no path in sight.

Lilith today symbolizes the return to authenticity and truth. Her energy awakens in women who understand that real strength comes from embracing wholeness, from courage to be genuine, sensitive, and wild simultaneously. She teaches that spiritual growth means uniting all parts of oneself. In a world that prioritizes performance over presence, the feminine principle brings depth, awareness, and compassion. Lilith represents authentic strength, radiating calm while transforming everything she touches. She leads women to recognize that their value lies in truth itself. The contemporary female awakening brings an evolution of consciousness.

Every woman who stops hiding behind roles, who opens her voice and dares to shine, fulfills Lilith’s legacy. In her courage arises a new culture of connection, where power flows from love and cooperation. Nespoutaná lilith

Podle starých textů nebyla první ženou v ráji Eva, ale Lilith. Její jméno se v Bibli samotné objevuje jen letmo, v náznacích, ale její příběh přežil v židovských midraších, apokryfech a kabalistických spisech. A přestože byla pozdějšími teology vymazána z oficiálního kánonu, zůstala živá jako symbol ženy, která se odmítla podřídit, a za to byla vyhnána.

Podle legendy byla Lilith stvořena stejně jako Adam. Z hlíny, ze stejné země, ze stejné esence. Nebyla tedy odvozena od muže, ale stvořena rovnocenně. V biblickém pojetí měl muž stát nad ženou, ale Lilith to odmítla. Když se s Adamem milovali, žádala rovnost. Chtěla být nahoře, být viděna, být rovnocennou partnerkou, ne majetkem. Adam však protestoval: „Já jsem ten, kdo byl stvořen první, a ty jsi ta, která má poslouchat.“ Lilith se postavila. Vyslovila Boží jméno, které je podle starých textů tak svaté, že kdo je vysloví, získá sílu odejít z hmotného světa a opustila ráj. Byl to její akt svobody. Lilith raději zvolila exil místo poslušnosti a samotu místo podrobení. Byla první ženou, která řekla ne.

Adam, ztracený bez své družky, se obrátil k Bohu a žádal, aby ji přivedl zpět. Bůh tedy vyslal tři anděly Senoi, Sansenoi a Semangelof, aby ji našli u Rudého moře, kde žila obklopená démony a zrozením nových bytostí. Lilith však odmítla návrat. Když jí andělé vyhrožovali, že za každý den její neposlušnosti zemře sto jejích dětí, odpověděla: „Ať se tak stane. Ale já se nevrátím.“

Tím okamžikem se zrodil archetyp „padlé ženy“, proto, že odmítla hierarchii. V patriarchálním výkladu se svoboda ženy stala hříchem, vzdor se stal nečistotou a nezávislost byla přetvořena v démoničnost. Lilith byla označena za svůdkyni, čarodějku a bytost noci. Její jméno se stalo symbolem ženské moci, která se vymyká kontrole.

Aby vyvážil její odchod, Bůh stvořil Evu tentokrát z Adamova žebra. Nebyla už jeho rovnocennou částí, ale jeho odvozeninou. Eva měla být poslušná, ochotná, tichá. Tak vznikl nový příběh ženy, která byla „z muže“ a jejíž úkolem bylo ho doplňovat, nikoli zpochybňovat. Lilith byla zapomenuta, vyhnána z ráje i z vědomí lidí. Ale nezmizela. Podle starých textů se usadila v poušti, kde se stala „královnou démonů“, symbolem nespoutané ženské energie, erotiky a magie. Ale duchovněji nahlíženo, Lilith nepadla. Ona se osvobodila. Vystoupila ze systému, který ji svazoval, a stala se stínem, který od té doby stojí na prahu každé ženské duše. Připomínkou toho, že poslušnost není totéž co láska a že svoboda má svou cenu.

Z psychologického pohledu můžeme chápat vyhnání Lilith jako okamžik, kdy se ženské vědomí oddělilo od své divoké, instinktivní části. V ní zůstala moudrost, intuice, tělesnost, sexualita a neuchopitelná síla. Všechno, co později patriarchální kultury začaly potlačovat. Eva představuje kultivovanou část ženy, tu, která se přizpůsobuje, zatímco Lilith zůstává archetypem té, která zůstala věrná své pravdě, i když za to zaplatila vyhnanstvím.

Tento biblický příběh je vykresluje rozštěpení ženské duše. Lilith a Eva jsou dvě části jednoho celku. První představuje instinktivní, nezávislou sílu, druhá tu část, která se učí přežít ve světě pravidel. Civilizace se rozhodla uctívat Evu a zatracovat Lilith. Ale bez Lilith ztrácí žena své kořeny. Ztrácí spojení s přírodou, s tělem, s vnitřní pravdou.

V duchovní rovině můžeme Lilith chápat jako první návrat k původní ženské posvátnosti. V momentě, kdy ji Bůh „potrestal“ ztrátou dětí a osaměním, otevřel se paradox: trest, který měl zlomit její sílu, ji naopak proměnil. Lilith se stala vědomím, které už nelze zničit. Stínem, který přináší světlo. V každé ženě, která cítí potřebu žít podle sebe, v každé, která odmítne nepravdivý vztah, v každé, která volí autenticitu před přijetím, se Lilith znovu rodí.

Náboženství ji nazvala démonem, ale v archetypální řeči je démon jen jiným jménem pro potlačenou část duše. Lilith je tedy symbolem ženské části, kterou se kultura snažila umlčet, ale čím víc ji potlačovala, tím silněji se vracela. V mýtech, v pohádkách, ve snech, v každé době, kdy se žena zvedla a připomněla svou moc. Vyhnání Lilith z ráje je první metaforou ženského odloučení od sebe samé. Okamžik, kdy byla ženská energie vytržena z rovnováhy. Ale zároveň je to i semínko návratu, neboť každé vyhnání obsahuje v sobě i touhu po znovusjednocení. A právě to je poselstvím archetypu Lilith dnes: k návratu prapůvodní, instinktivní, svobodné části ženské duše, která se kdysi odvážila odejít z ráje, aby nezradila sama sebe.

Kabala ji později rozdělila do více aspektů jako temnou družku Samaela, démona stínu, i jako duchovní archetyp ženské síly mimo hranice dobra a zla. Lilith zde představuje aspekt „Sitra Achra“, odvrácené strany Boha, tedy princip, který existuje, aby člověk mohl pochopit vlastní polaritu.

V astrologii se Lilith objevuje jako tzv. Černá Luna, tedy bod, který neznázorňuje planetu, ale prázdné ohnisko měsíční dráhy. Tento prázdný bod v horoskopu mluví o nejhlubších instinktivních vrstvách duše, o místě, kde se duše odmítá podvolit. Lilith v astrologii ukazuje, kde člověk prožívá vnitřní konflikt mezi svobodou a odmítnutím, kde se nechce ohnout, i kdyby to znamenalo být sám. Jde o surovou pravdu o tom, kdo jsme pod nánosem společenských masek. V psychologii a zejména v jungovském pojetí představuje Lilith archetyp Stínu ženského principu. Jung by ji popsal jako potlačený aspekt ženské psyché, který v patriarchálních kulturách neměl prostor k projevení. Tam, kde byla povýšena poslušnost, mateřství a čistota, byla Lilith potlačena a proměnila se v nevědomý hněv, sexualitu bez lásky, závist či manipulaci. Ale to jsou jen masky, které si nasazuje, když není přijatá.

Moderní jungovská psychologie často popisuje, že když žena během seberozvoje nebo spirituálního probuzení narazí na svůj „Lilith moment“, znamená to setkání s nejhlubší pravdou o sobě. Se svou divokostí, s hněvem, se sexualitou, s touhou po svobodě i se smutkem z odmítnutí. Lilith se tedy v různých systémech stala zrcadlem pro to, co se snažil patriarchát systematicky zmenšovat z ohromného strachu z nekontrolovatelného pomocí studu, viny, ponižováním, potlačováním a násilím. Strachu z její síly tvořit, léčit, propojovat, zrcadlit anebo i ničit celé vesnice.

V dnešní době se Lilith zjevuje v nových podobách. V moderní ženě, která už odmítá být tichá, milá a přijatelná jen tehdy, když se podřídí. Patriarchát se zrodil z potřeby kontrolovat to, co je nespoutané a nepředvídatelné, tedy samotný princip života, který žena zosobňuje. Když se podíváme zpět, vidíme vzorec: žena byla redukována na roli manželky, matky, služky. Byla odříznuta od vzdělání, od hlasu, od těla i sexuality. Ale patriarchát není jen o mužích, je to energetický systém zakořeněný i v ženách samotných. Kdykoli se žena zmenší, aby se vešla do očekávání, kdykoli potlačí kreativitu, schopnost tvořit nebo intuici, udržuje tento systém při životě.

A přestože žijeme ve 21. století, stopy tohoto systému jsou stále cítit. Takzvaný „female rage“, tedy ženský hněv, je novodobým hlasem všech potlačených ženských generací. V rámci Hawkinsovy škály vědomí má Hněv hodnotu 150, což znamená, že se stále nachází pod úrovní Lásky (500), ale přináší zásadní bod zlomu. Člověk na úrovni Hněvu si již uvědomuje, jak a kde byly porušeny osobní hranice a to bez vědomí vlastní hodnoty není možné. A nejen to. Hněv je také prvním stupněm, kde člověk začíná vnímat možnost změny, protože už si uvědomuje, že si zaslouží mnohem víc. Toto uvědomění není přístupné například u Smutku (75) nebo Viny (30), protože je vědomí na této úrovni stále paralyzováno truchlením, bezmocí a zatím není v dohledu ani cesta ven.

Lilith dnes vystupuje jako symbol návratu k autenticitě a pravdivému bytí. Její energie se probouzí v ženách, které cítí, že opravdová síla vyrůstá z přijetí celistvosti, z odvahy být skutečná, citlivá i divoká zároveň. Lilith připomíná, že duchovní růst znamená spojení všech částí sebe. V dnešním světe, který staví výkon nad prožitek, přináší ženský princip hloubku, přítomnost a soucit. Lilith představuje archetyp autentické síly, která vyzařuje klid a přitom mění vše, čeho se dotkne. Vede ženu k vědomí, že její hodnota tkví v nahé pravdě. Současné ženské probuzení přináší evoluci vědomí.

Každá žena, která se přestane skrývat za role, která otevře svůj hlas a dovolí si zářit, naplňuje odkaz Lilith. V její odvaze se rodí nová kultura. Kultura spojení, kde síla vychází z lásky a spolupráce. Z hlubin minulosti vyrůstá moudrost, která proměňuje její bolest v sílu a zranění v hluboký soucit. Integrovaný archetyp Lilith je skutečným portálem mezi duchovností a hmotou, který žena zosobňuje samotným cyklickým zrozením, porodem a smrtí. Tedy samotnou esencí života.
