When I hear someone say: ‘They are hurting me,’ I pay attention. The truth is that nobody outside of us can really hurt us – unless we allow it. In the end, it is always us who hold the power over how deeply something touches us.
Help or Power?
The impulse to help is rooted deep within us. It was born in times when the survival of one was inseparable from the survival of the whole. Helping was an instinct, a way to keep the tribe, the family, the community alive.
